Next-Generation 2024 Lexus GX: A Luxurious SUV That Redefines Off-Roading

The automotive world is abuzz with excitement as Japanese luxury automaker Lexus unveils its highly anticipated next-generation 2024 Lexus GX. Set to make its grand debut in the upcoming 2024 calendar year, the 2024 GX is poised to establish itself as a formidable competitor to the 2024 Cadillac XT6, offering a perfect blend of opulence and performance.

2024 Lexus GX SUV

Unveiling its exquisite architecture, the 2024 Lexus GX shares its foundation with its larger counterpart, the Lexus LX. This remarkable body-on-frame luxury SUV offers a singular powertrain combination. Powering the GX 550 is a robust twin-turbocharged 3.4L V6 gasoline engine, generating an impressive 349 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. This incredible power is effortlessly managed by a 10-speed automatic transmission. Furthermore, the 2024 GX exclusively features a 4WD drivetrain configuration, ensuring optimal performance on any terrain.

Meticulously crafted with a rugged aesthetic, the 2024 Lexus GX exhibits an assertive presence with its wide track and reduced front overhang, elevating its off-roading prowess to new heights. Compared to its predecessor, the new GX showcases larger dimensions, offering a more commanding stance. The trim lineup is an embodiment of sophistication, comprising Premium, Premium+, Luxury, Luxury+, and introducing the all-new Overtrail and Overtrail+ variants. These variants are distinguished by their captivating two-tone bodywork, black fender flares, a robust skid plate, and stunning 18-inch wheels wrapped in 33-inch all-terrain tires.

Step inside the refined interior, and you’ll be greeted by a completely revamped cockpit design. The lower and more horizontally aligned instrument panel lends a sleek and minimalist touch, enhancing the overall passenger experience. Emphasizing visibility, the all-new dashboard is complemented by an optional Head-Up Display system and the standard 14-inch Multimedia Touchscreen Display. Furthermore, the inclusion of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard features, along with the digital 12.3-inch driver instrument cluster, ensure seamless connectivity and intuitive control.

Safety is of paramount importance in the 2024 Lexus GX. Equipped with a host of advanced safety features, this luxury SUV offers peace of mind to both drivers and passengers. The impressive suite of active safety technologies includes the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, All-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Road Sign Assist, and Proactive Driving Assist.

Lexus Vice President and General Manager Dejuan Ross passionately remarked, “For more than two decades, the GX has bridged the gap between legendary off-road capability and luxurious everyday driving. The GX is a critical piece in the evolution of the Next Chapter for Lexus, and with new powertrains, an impressive host of premium features, and the all-new Overtrail grade, the 2024 GX has something for everyone.”

Interestingly, General Motors, the parent company of Cadillac, does not currently offer a direct competitor to the Lexus GX. While the three-row Cadillac XT6 is a unibody crossover, the only luxury-brand body-on-frame SUV available from GM is the full-size Cadillac Escalade, which directly competes with the Lexus LX.

2024 Cadillac XT6

Nevertheless, the 2024 Cadillac XT6 stands as the closest competitor to the next-generation 2024 Lexus GX 550. It is worth noting that GM has decided not to introduce significant updates for the upcoming model year of this luxury crossover, which has remained unchanged since its debut in 2020.

In terms of powertrain options, the 2024 XT6 offers two choices. The first is a

turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, generating 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The second option is a naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine, delivering 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. Regardless of the chosen engine, every XT6 unit comes equipped with the GM nine-speed automatic transmission as standard, with front-wheel drive (FWD) being the standard configuration and all-wheel drive (AWD) available as an option.

Beneath its stylish exterior, the XT6 is built upon the robust GM C1 platform, with production for the North American market taking place at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.

As we eagerly await the arrival of the remarkable 2024 Lexus GX, it is evident that this luxurious SUV will redefine the boundaries of off-roading excellence. With its unparalleled combination of lavishness and performance, the GX promises to captivate the hearts of automotive enthusiasts worldwide. Prepare to embark on an extraordinary journey where luxury meets adventure, all within the comfort of the incomparable 2024 Lexus GX.
